Hormone Replacement Therapy information

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports that 4 to 5 million American men suffer from low testosterone, but only 5% are currently treated with hormone replacement therapy. What about the remaining 95%? Could you be one of them?

If you answered “yes” to more than half of these questions, chances are your testosterone levels are less than optimal and you may be deficient. You may be going through the male menopause, a condition known as andropause.

Can I benefit from Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Men who receive testosterone therapy consequently report that they feel sexier, stronger and healthier. They say that it makes them feel as they did when they were in their prime.

Core Medical Group's testosterone treatments can stop and reverse the physical decline that can rob you of your energy, strength and libido. Testosterone can restore muscle tone and improve stamina. Testosterone can restore healthy sexual excitement and desire, which in turn, results in an improvement in mood and overall well being.

Restoring testosterone to youthful levels with hormone replacement therapy can reverse the situation. Men automatically assume that as they age, their sexual capacity will diminish. There is no need to accept this loss of sexuality. We should be able to live our life with the same excitement and enthusiasm we enjoyed during our youth.

Poor Sex Drive

Is your Poor Sex Drive affecting your relationship?

Core Medical Group can help you with any deficiencies in your sex drive.

Remember that the definition of a poor sex drive is subjective -- and defined by the person who has one. A man has that perceives his Sex Drive to be low will have a distressing effect on his self esteem.
It contradicts all the cultural beliefs we have about the way men are and/or are supposed to be, but the reality is... American men are waning in their desire for sex.

What can cause Poor Sex Drive?

Physical causes

  • Alcoholism – quite common.
  • Abuse of drugs such as cocaine.
  • Obesity – quite common; slimming down will often help.
  • Anaemia - unusual, unless the man has been bleeding for any reason.
  • Hyperprolactinaemia – a rare disorder where the pituitary gland produces too much of the hormone prolactin.
  • Prescribed drugs – particularly Proscar (finasteride), a tablet used for prostate problems.
  • Low testosterone level - contrary to what many people think, this is rare, except in cases where some injury or illness has affected the testicles.
  • Any major disease such as diabetes.

Psychological causes

  • Depression – very common.
  • Stress and overwork.
  • Hang-ups from childhood.
  • Latent homosexuality.
  • Serious relationship problems with your partner.

What should a man do about a Poor Sex Drive?

You can begin by contacting Core Medical Group of Florida. All the above causes of lack of libido can respond well to therapy. The most difficult to treat are those that involve marital problems or hang-ups about sex.

Sometimes your libido is low due to factors related to lifestyle. Very often you may feel fatigued after a long day at work, have financial pressures, personal stress - or a legitimate headache. In addition, unresolved personal issues within a relationship may also escalate into a state where a low libido and a low sex drive becomes the norm. Research has shown that most men who experience a poor sex drive can achieve erections, but have lost the sexual desire. Similarly many women can reach an orgasm, but have no real sexual desire.

Regaining testosterone to  youthful levels with testosterone replacement can help with a poor sex drive. All too often, men automatically assume that as they age, their sexual capacity will diminish. There is no need to accept this loss of sexuality. We should be able to live our life with the same excitement and enthusiasm we enjoyed during our youth.

A few warning signs that may come with Low Test.

All it takes is a simple blood test to reveal if you have Low Test. Here is what you may be experiencing:

Testosterone is what fuels a man's sex drive. Without it, a man will have an absent sex life.

Erectile dysfunction will limit the body's release of a molecule by the name nitric oxide. This is what triggers an erection. Without it, erections are impossible and they will not be firm enough to penetrate and pleasure your partner.

Low Test can also cause big medical problems, such as diabetes, osteoporosis and hear disease, among others. Low Test will also effect the volume of sperm created as testosterone is needed to resupply.

You may also feel genital numbness, in which you will not have any feeling during sexual intercourse, making it stressful for both partners.

If you want to know more about what you can do to minimize the effects of Low test, please visit us at Core Medical Group to get started right away!

Here are some more facts about Low Testosterone:

The production of testosterone is regulated by hormones. These hormones are released from the brain. The hypothalamus and pituitary gland located in the brain produce hormonal signals that ultimately result in the production of testosterone. The hypothalamus is located just above the brain stem, and among its many functions, it produces gonadotrophin releasing hormone (GRH). GRH travels a short distance to the pituitary gland located in the base of the brain stimulating the gland to release FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone). Subsequently, these hormones also have a role in regulating testosterone levels in the bloodstream.
The majority of testosterone circulates in the blood bound to a carrier protein (a hormone is produced in one are of the body and has its effect on another area. A carrier protein that assists the hormone travel through the bloodstream). The carrier protein is called a "sex hormone binding globulin," or SHBG. When testosterone streams through SHBG, it is considered "bound". This bounded testosterone does not play an active role in the body; only the unbounded testosterone enters the various cells of the body and releases its androgenic and anabolic effects. Anything that affects the function or the amount of SHBG can also affect the total circulating amount of active testosterone.
